New York’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, has announced that thousands more dwellings in the city will get heat pumps, solar panels, electric vehicle (EV) charging points and electric stoves. This is part of a scheme fun by the New York City Housing Authority.

A Dutch start-up is testing thermoacoustic heat pump technology in residential settings. The devices transfer heat with the help of high-intensity sound waves. BlueHeart Energy’s heat pumps could reach the European market as early as next year, the company says.
