Government ministers in the UK are considering introducing electricity bill discounts for people who have heat pumps.

While retrofitting heat pumps into existing properties is not yet overly common in Germany, heat pumps are now the dominant heating system in new builds, according to official data.

Buildings and infrastructure

ABC News in Australia has a fascinating and report about Pacific Islands, including Samoa and Tuvalu, where residents are building huge walls along coastlines to hold back rising seas. In one case, the walls are made from rocks shipped from Dubai. However, studies indicate that sea walls generally have limitations when it comes to holding back the worst storm surges and climate change-exacerbated flooding.
