One feature that I heard about colloquially but have not had confirmed is that the very odd shape of the Octopus heat pump also includes so-called expansion vessels - saving space inside the home. Can you conform or deny?
Thanks, Michael! I asked Octopus about this because my understanding was they made it taller than wide so as to reduce its footprint and increase the total number of possible installation locations. They confirmed this but also confirmed that you are indeed right - the expansion vessel is inside the heat pump, which would reduce the footprint of the kit installed elsewhere in the system.
Cool article. Great to see that heat pumps are getting more mainstream in the UK too. In France, since 2022, over 90% of new single-family houses were equipped with heat pumps (sometimes paired with electric resistance backup), both for heating and DHW.
Thank you. I recently visited the offices (not the factory sadly) of ICAX.
